PocketMeter Pro is a light meter app for photographers and cinematographers. This policy explains what the app accesses on your device, and — just as importantly — what it doesn't do with it.
The short version: PocketMeter Pro has no servers of its own. Your camera feed, photos, and location never leave your device. We don't collect, see, or store any of it.
What the app accesses, and why
- Camera. Used live, on-device, to read scene brightness for exposure metering, false color, and white balance. The camera feed is never recorded, stored, or transmitted unless you explicitly use LOG or the screen-record feature (below).
- Photo Library (add-only). When you tap LOG, or stop a screen recording, PocketMeter Pro saves that snapshot or video to your Photos library. The app can only add to your library — it cannot read, browse, or access your existing photos.
- Location (when in use). Only used to geotag a photo when you tap LOG, so the exposure snapshot records where it was taken. Location is not accessed at any other time and is never sent anywhere — it's embedded directly into the photo saved on your device.
- LiDAR (Pro iPhones only). Used locally to display a subject-distance readout in the viewfinder. Nothing is recorded or transmitted.
What we don't do
- No user accounts, sign-in, or personal profile data
- No advertising or ad-tracking SDKs
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind added by us
- No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to any third party
- No servers — there is nowhere for your data to go
Apple's role
PocketMeter Pro is distributed through the Apple App Store and TestFlight, which involves Apple in ways outside our control:
- Crash and diagnostic data. If you've opted in under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with us through App Store Connect to help us fix bugs. This data is collected and governed by Apple, not by us.
- App Store / TestFlight operations. Apple collects standard platform data (device model, OS version, download/update activity) as the store operator. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
Children's privacy
PocketMeter Pro is a professional photography tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and as noted above, we do not collect personal data from any user in the first place.
